This Contents Page is very simplistic, which is very effective as a front cover of a magazine is the thing that catches the audiences eye not the contents. The image is just right to the centre and takes up the majority of the page but this doesn't effect the quality of the page. The colour scheme is as simplistic as the page itself, the black, grey and white gives it a sophisticated, modern and rocky edge. The only colour being the Red from the magazines masthead "SPIN" this emphasises the name and the blue box on the bottom left giving details of the front cover, but these two bursts of colour don't take away from the original edgy grey colour scheme.Having the couple dressed in the same outfits of the blazer, shirt and top hat it shows the connection between them and this is very common in rock genre music. I like this approach to a contents page, and have taken is on board for my own main task.
This Contents Page is from a magazine called King size, it also has a simplistic approach but instead of one central image it has 5 smaller photos surrounding the text on the left side of the page as this gives the page a younger feel as it is busy yet ordered. The bands that are featured on each of the pages are in a red, bold and capital font to show the importance of the band compared to the story as the band is what will draw the audiences to that particular magazine. This magazine will have a younger target audience, such as teenagers, young people and musicians.Having such a range of photos means that a set colour scheme shouldn't work, but despite the amount of different colours within the images the page has a colour scheme of black and red. The masthead is visible but not in such a way as the previous magazine, as it doesn't need to show its name all over the page - as the people buying the magazine are more interested in the content of the magazine they're buying rather than what it is called.
This contents page is from a magazine called RS968, despite its first appearances seeming like it is dated but in reality its quite the opposite being a modern music magazine. Because the main image is in black and white and of features artists from the 50s-60s, this magazine is a special edition dedicated to that era. The magazine features the same set out as the other magazines above, with the way the stories and pages are set out on the page on the left surrounding the main image gives it an ordered appearance. But this magazine gives the readers more before they read the actual articles, this would have an older audience maybe of 40+, simply because of the content that it contains. The colour scheme is once again kept very simplistic, and I think this is the best approach to have with a contents page. Similar to the magazine "SPIN" the only main splash of colour is from their magazine name.
